PARALLEL PROCESSING WITHIN A COGNITIVE MODEL OF NATURAL LANGUAGE COMPREHENSION
ABSTRACT
This paper presents a cognitive science approach to modeling speech recognition and message acquisition. An association-based cognitive model of natural language comprehension is outlined. A special impact is put on the parallel processing within the framework of the model. In order to make the implementation of the model feasible the formalism of the Generalized Net is being used. The straightforward applying of this formalism as well as the consistent embedding of the processes of NLC within the frame of this method of formalization indicates that, provided the language theories used are consistent, the model can be implemented by means of algorithmic procedures.
